A large central island provides plenty of storage in deep drawers and also conceals a microwave in an easy to access open space out of direct view of the living area. The design of the island includes ample seating space for guests to gather for pre-dinner drinks or for a casual breakfast or coffee break.
The thick stone benchtops on the island are supported by fluted columns which were custom designed to match the timber pilasters of our client’s new staircase which exists the room opposite the island. The columns and island cabinetry are all wrapped with decorating skirting board which has been painted to match the cabinet fronts.
Overhead cabinet doors with clear glass inserts provide the perfect space to showcase a carefully curated collection of delph and glassware. Warm light diffuses through clear glass shelves to illuminate the cabinet contents while under cabinet downlights accentuate the detail of the splashback adding dimension to the area.
Our custom designs continue through to the rangehood cabinet where fluted details mirror those of the island pilasters and carefully selected corbels support a mantle shelf.
The same look was continued through the rest of the custom cabinetry in our clients home including the laundry, bathroom and ensuite vanities and walk in wardrobe cabinetry all of which feature a classic door profile and brushed nickel cup pulls and knobs.
