While white and other neutral shades have long dominated kitchen colour trends, we are currently seeing blue tones have a moment with creative and inviting kitchen designs.
Navy is the sure-fire winner for a pop of colour in your kitchen but dusty and medium toned blues have also been making an appearance.
In this post we are showcasing three Kitchens by Kathie examples to show you that our team of professional designers have completed around Brisbane.
Whether it’s Industrial Inspired, Hamptons Style or a classic family home, these three examples prove that blue has a place in any kind of kitchen renovation.
Industrial Inspired
This not so traditional kitchen is playful and fun. Originally a church and community centre, this Northside residence has been lovingly renovated by an enthusiastic young couple into a unique family home.
The design brief for this kitchen design was to create a larger than life industrial style kitchen that would not look lost in the enormous 8.3-meter-wide “assembly hall” area of this unassuming 1950’s suburban home.
A light and airy blue was chosen to tie in the stark contrast between the white brick and charcoal colour scheme. The Dulux paint in Sea Kelp (252214) was the perfect choice to add a feature colour to this already lively and unique kitchen.

Hamptons Style in Clontarf
This light-filled, elegantly designed kitchen, close to the water at Clontarf, hallmarks classic Hampton elements and oozes style and sophistication. The statement element in this kitchen is definitely the floating island bench in a stunning true navy. The colour is further accented in the cleverly designed walk-in pantry located just off the kitchen and in the same classic navy hue. The navy pop of colour is complimented with charcoal lighting fixtures, creamy white cabinetry and timber barstools. The end result is this sophisticated and welcoming kitchen that is a modern twist on the classic Hamptons style.

Kedron Family Kitchen
A bright and fresh colour palette with an ergonomic and user-friendly layout was the brief for this clean and contemporary kitchen in an open plan living space of an inner suburban family home. The standout feature of this kitchen, other than the gorgeous stained-glass window, it the dusty blue cabinetry. This selection adds a pop of homely colour to the family kitchen while still remaining relatively neutral.
